Christmas Party...Ug!

Damn it...

I just found out that it is a sit down dinner at our Christmas party. Buffet style, but with tables and you know... its weird to be there and not sit and eat with everyone else.

I think my plan is now to be "late" to the party. I don't know that I can control myself at a buffet just yet, and of course, no matter how little you take the hidden calories in the damn food will be nuts.

Very. Frustrating.

You can manage this. It won't be without stress, but go with a plan.

1. Lots of water beforehand

2. BIG salad portions (and perhaps bring a dressing you can use, premeasured?)

3. Oooo and aaaaah over how FABULOUS the vegetables are, so no one will think twice that you are loading up on those things, rather than the heavy-duty stuff.

4. And if coming late means you'll potentially be a little hungry, eat something at home before heading to the party.

5. Have a Plan B in place, just in case you need it. An early exit strategy, or something else that would be appropriate for your circumstance.

I think it is smart to be wary of the buffet. If you haven't tried one yet (since dieting), the office HOLIDAY party buffet is not the thing to experiment with - yikes!

I have complete faith that you can weather this in good form. Nowadays, office buffet parties usually have at least one decent offering (healthy), just be aware of hidden calories and stop before you are full.

Worse case scenario, you push around some unhealthy food on the plate, have a little salad, and stop.

You may be hungry again later, but by then you'll be home and can make something on plan to nibble on.

Before I start, let me summarize. That is a load of crap. Enjoy the party, have a glass of Club soda with lemon, and eat nothing..... Laugh at everyone else inside. Next year, same event, killer dress, 100 plus pounds lighter !! It is food, then it is poop...

Allan is right. Go to the party , drink a lot of water. You don't have to eat or you can eat just a few bites of something.

Excellent plans. I dont want ot be put in a position where I am eating food off plan.

Showing up late, full of water, and if I have to... salad and push food around!!

I have nothing to add really, everyone has great advice!! So just stopping in to say "You can do it!!" (Think water-boy!)
