Up and ready to get moving... I'm about to head out in the sunshine ....in my shorts and tee shirt for a big ol' walk in the park. I can't wait.
Today is going to be a day all to myself. I'm going to enjoy it fully.
We picked out our Christmas dinner last night and I'm so excited that I can't wait to tell you all.
Is a Bison Roast. I can't wait. Nice beautiful lean mean. Grass fed, non hormone pumped organic raised bison. Some asparagus and a couple other veggie sides and that is our Christmas dinner this year.
okay. Time to get moving!
Welcome
Thank you for stopping by to perv on my blog, as I fight myself to change my old habits and make new ones to get fit. I don't get it right all the time, but I'm still here and I'm still working at it.

Bonus Workout Done!
Step class tonight... I could tell that my aerobics buddy wanted me to say that I didn't want to go - and I was waiting for her to say that she didn't want to go ... but neither of us was willing to be the one to jam on the class since we both need it... so we went.
ha! How is that for forced exercise! And of course - bonus exercise for me! :) I'm going to sleep well tonight since I could hardly keep up. It was brutal!! I was dreanched in sweat after. All in all, a good time was had and my legs and lungs are well worked out!
Then, Hubby suggested dessert post-dinner at said step class friends house and I said, "we really don't need it". He agreed and we returned to the house sans dessert! VICTORY! Then I ate a low-fat pumpkin cookie...which is not that bad/good for you. Its not like a celery stick or anything, but its not a slice of full-fat cheesecake either. So....STILL VICTORY! haha
Running tomorrow....yes I will, yes I will, yes I will!

weekend win!
I've been a bad blogger, but I'm hoping to catch up and try to get into my daily postings again... seems that I'm at an intersection of busy right now... work, weight, sports, moving homes, and immigration stuff (I'm changing countries). Its been stressful to say the least. But things are getting smoothed out one wrinkle at a time and I seem to be on the winning side of these tasks now.
GOALS:
I've been doing pretty good on these actually. I've eat breakfast and walked to and from work almost every day. I'm enjoying it actually. I've not been getting in push ups and I've had a terrible week for sleep, but I'm hoping to redeem myself on that front starting tonight.
FOOD:
as per normal... food is touch and go. I was doing great - bringing lunches...then I got busy and was out of town a couple weekends in a row and that threw me off kilter...bought lunches lead to more snacking...poor choices of food. But I have the makings for a great 2 weeks of lunches now - and even have one ready for tomorrow done and waiting for me in the fridge right now.
I have 4 more weeks in this condo before the new renter takes over and I'm homeless for a stretch. I'm going to be staying with some friends while waiting for the rest of my immigration papers to go through. So now I have to use what is in the cupboards before I get more stuff (beside fruit and fresh veg). So I have 4 bags of pasta, rice, couscous....all sorts.
Tonight's Use It Up Dinner was:
Garlic/Parsley whole wheat pasta
3 Italian sausages
1 can peas
1 can cannelloni beans (white kidney beans)
1 jar garlic tomato sauce.
It was very tasty and made four portions. 2 in the freezer for later lunches, one for tomorrow and one serving for dinner this evening. WIN! 3/4 bag of pasta use, 2 canned goods used up.
EXERCISE:
Apart from walking to and from work and my Tuesday adventure (that left me sore as a sore thing for the next four days), I've been bad about getting to the gym, I need to start getting in there at lunches again.
However, this weekend I did myself proud. I was dog sitting on Saturday and we went for a walk and Frisbee tossing session for over an hour, then today... I met some friends for coffee then went for a 5km walk. It was great. I'm very pleased with myself as I was already thinking of wussing out of my walk when I woke up this morning.
CHORES:
This last week I've been starting to clean out the place, starting with my closet - this weekend I got out all my old cloths and all the stuff that I have but don't wear. Washed it all, ironed what needed it and pretty much got it all ready to go to the consignment shop. We have a lovely Plus sized consignment shop here. If your clothes don't sell - they donate them for you. Its fab since I used to just dump them all off. I've made a couple hundred dollars getting rid of my old clothing in there.
So tonight - early to bed, then the start of a new week! Its going to be a good one...I can feel it.

Lets make a deal.....
Today before I had even left the office I had decided that I was going to eat a large thin crust double pepperoni pizza and 2 diet cokes for dinner...
I thought about it for the last half hour of work, I thought about it as I got changed to walk home, I thought about it while my co-worker was talking to me on the walk... I thought about it until I got a little closer to home.
Then I started thinking. Do I really want to get up tomorrow and know that I ate a whole large pizza to myself, and drank 2 diet cokes and feel like crap and dread getting on the scale. And then have to tell myself "how much better I'll be now to make up for it", when I know that isn't my style.
So then I started trying to find a way out..."I'll get chicken souvlaki and calamari....no....I'll stop and get crackers and soup, no I'll order more chinese food..."
So I made the ultimate deal. If I went home without stopping to get anything, I could eat WHATEVER and HOWEVER MUCH I wanted. No matter what... IF it was in my house - I could have it, but nothing else.
So here it is:
3oz cheese & 10 almonds (eaten while prepping the rest).
2 chicken breasts (sauteed in little oil and lemon pepper seasoning)
15 asparagus spears & 1/2 tsp becel
1 sweet potato & 2 small beets cut thinly and coated with 2T evoo then baked on a tray in the oven ( not long enough mind you they could have been a little crisper)* haha - re-reading this I laughed at my "evaluation" of the potato that I ate by the forkfull without any appreciation of flavor, indeed...."could have been crisper" I'm too much!
Honestly....I thought that I wouldn't feel full after this - but I certainly did. I still feel full now and this was nearly three hours ago.
I thought that I was going to eat WAY more then this because today.... I felt empty. I felt just depleted and beaten and I wanted food. I wanted to feel full, stuffed, bursting, ...ug, I can't even think of words to say for this emptiness...... I wanted that instead of tired, sad and empty.
I ate this dinner in massive gulps, just trying to fill up as fast as I could. Its strange - that need, that feeling of wanted to be filled up, yet not really need the food, but my brain telling me that this will make me feel "good".
Now I have strange feelings of remorse, and yet a feeling of a small victory as well.
I am proud that I managed to talk myself out of pizza and pop and a binge that would have been really horrid on my body and that would have most likely snowballed into a weekend long binge.
I know that chicken, sweet potatoes and asparagus (mind you with enough extra fats added - oil etc.) are not going to stay with me as long as 1lb of pepperoni and 1lbs of white bread crust would, and that there are good things in these foods, so in that sense I feel great about how I managed to weasle out of my original plan. I still hate that those thoughts can creep in and dominate my mind and that I can still eat SO BLOODY MUCH. Those are both dinner sized plates. 2 whole chicken breasts!!! Good gawd!
Anyway - thats enough beating myself up. I am proud, I managed to escaped though the best hatch that I have right now from a terrible binge that was coming on. I'm going to keep on having these kinds of moments, and I'm going to have to dealing with them.
So there we go. Today, I'm going to end with a body positive quote that I saw today that made me smile.

Sunday Run
I got up and went for my run this morning - I was still sore as a sore thing - but I did it. :) 3km, but it was a tough one, and my legs were tight. But I still enjoyed myself.
I ate like shit today. I did. That same old same old. Oh I'm doing well - I can eat what I want bla bla bla. I have to get my head around that eventually.
2 oat pancakes pre-run, eggs bennie with copious amounts of coffee, then ginger fried beef (this was wok style - not the crunchy deep fried ones) on coconut rice for late lunching. Then I had 4 slices of rye toast with 2T of BP2 chocolate with 2T honey.
I don't know what I'm feeling now. I had made sweet potato chips for dinner but I burned the ever-living hell out of them and nearly smoked myself out of the house. So I've not eaten yet. I'm hungry - yet not. I've had 1.5L of water this afternoon - which isn't enough. I'm not too sure what to do about food. Nothing is appealing right now. Ug.
Well - tomorrow is weigh-in day. And no matter what. I have to say - I am pretty proud of my new pictures. I had no idea that 10lbs could make such a difference. I'm so blind to it in the mirror. To sit here and compare them and SEE the difference.
I'm looking forward to the next ten!!
The not great of the day - once I was done with my eating out with friends - I did sweet FA around the house - no cleaning, no packing, no groceries. I'm going to have no lunch for tomorrow....wait! I have some freezer foods. Great - will take that. :)
Woot! saved. Okay - now its time for sleeps!

Sunday Successes
Today was a pretty darn good day all tolled.
Slept in and since it was snowy and cold and ugly...I didn't go. Bad me, but I made up for it.
Yoga this morning was good. We did some really great hip flexor work that I need to work on for sure! I got to have a steam after and a long hot shower!!! My fav.
Then I went and got groceries, did a quick sweep through the store - no list - which is not typically a good plan for me since thats when I tend to pick up "naughty things". But today was excellent - no treats.
On the way home I went to Starbucks for a coffee and then to subway for my lunch. I did 4 loads of laundry, cleaned up and then made dinner and lunch's for the next few days.
Eating was a solid 7/10 today, exercise was a 5/10 since I didn't do anything other then yoga. I'm going to pack my gym gear tonight to take to work (... no more excuses about lunchtime workouts). Water was excellent for a weekend day. I've had just over 3L now which is double my normal intake for a weekend.
Bfast:
2 oat pancakes
1T honey
1/2T becel
Lunch:
12" roasted chicken sub on whole wheat
lettuce, tomato, green pepper, olives, banana peppers, jalapenos
Ranch dressing (looked like about 3T even though I said "only a little)
****NOTE**** I decided that I would NOT get a pop and chips when I was in there, so I didn`t
Snack1:
2 clementines (yay I bought another box while shopping today
Snack2:
bag of microwave popcorn
Dinner:
1c quiona
2c chicken curry
I have these great bags of curry sauce that you just add to meat & veg and its awesome. I cooked the chicken in a little oil with some red onion, added 1 can chickpeas, 2c green beans, carrots, and yellow beans. It was total yum, and there is a couple days worth of leftovers.
Over and Out.

Jiggly Butt
Last Friday was my first "real" run outside and it was pretty darn good actually. I did feel a little like the class clown, I have to remind myself not to be too loud in our group sessions pre-run. lol I got the evils from the instructor! oops!
We ran 1min segments and walked for 2minutes between 7 times and covered 3km. I'm not panting, sweating or heaving by any stretch, this is a very gentle slow moving course that builds gradually, but its still great for the mind and the body. I really wanted to start off slow and enjoy myself! Which I am.
Tonight's run was a "training" run and our little band of runners met up and did our 7 sets of "1 and 2's" with some walking for warm up and cool down at either end. I have to say, it was perhaps the most pleasant way to end a day of work. Plus its nicer to be in a group of slow moving "runner" so that you don't stand out all alone with people zipping by you. Ah, safety in numbers. :) Plus I hid in the middle so that no one running up on us can see my jiggly butt!
Food today was 50/50.
Bfast:
1c almond milk
1med coffee with cream
1 protein powder, flax seed and 1/2c whole oats
Lunch (early at 11.40am):
starter green salad (lovely mix) with 1T blue cheese dressing
1 burger with fries
Snack1:
1 protein bar (post run)
Dinner:
large bowl mixed greens
1/2 green apple
3oz Stilton
2T red onion
6oz turkey breast
6 Raincoast Crisps (cranberry & pecan)
Snack2:
unsure....we'll see if I need anything tonight or not.
I have to say that pre-lunch I was hungry - but I didn't even feel like nibbling on anything this afternoon after my big lunch. Not even before my run. YAY!
Water - still not great 1.5L so far and I need to get another at least 1L in me before bed.
Today was also TREAT DAY at the office. I wasn't even remotely tempted... that was a total non-scale victory for me. I didn't go in and ogle the donuts, sniff them, take one and throw it out. In fact, I got the "treats are here" email and promptly forgot all about it.
Not a bad mid-week day. Tomorrow...packed lunch and MORE WATER.

Daily Report
I slept VERY little last night, only 5 hours. I'm bad, very very bad. New books are my downfall and last night I was awake until 1.45 reading, then spent 15min trying to fall asleep. Tonight I'm going to bed very early - reading and sleeping 8+hours. No if, ands, or buts.
I woke up today and my legs were a little warm from the walk home last night - YAY for getting back into it. Tonight... weights and walk home. I have to say that with my increased water drinking, I'm feeling good. I'm still pretty thirsty in the mornings - but I think this is more due to the fact that I'm a mouth breather when I sleep. I used to keep a big glass of water next to the bed and drink it all over the night whenever I'd wake up. But I've gotten out of that habit... not sure if thats for the better or worse?
Bfast:
T's own Oatmeal baggie (1/2 oats, 1T protein powder, 1T flax seeds) ....This my friends... is colon blow...you might want to think about getting to a quiet bathroom after eating.... if you get my drift.
1 med skim milk latte
Lunch:
1c brown&wild rice with 1c green& yellow beans & 1/2 baked chicken breast
1/2 acorn squash. This was totally lush, if you like squash - you should try one. **I'm not particularly hungry today for some reason. This lunch has really filled me up and I don't even want anything else. YAY!!
Snack 1:
med banana & 1/3c 1% cottage cheese
Snack 2:
1/3c Apple&Grain Activia yogurt
1 med skim milk green tea latte
Snack 3:
post workout large orange (it was so yummy)
Dinner:
2 slices deli ham with 2oz low fat swiss cheese (roll ups eaten now cause I'm hungry)
1 sweet potato and 1/2 red potato cut into thin slices and are cooking into chips in the oven with a little bit of pam-spray
2 turkey/chickpea burgers & 1c assorted greens
(splurge) 1T Ketchup for my burgers
Water - 2.2L (one more litre with dinner and the rest of the evening! woot!!)
Exercise:
468 stairs to main floor from office (phew!)
36min on the elliptical machine, 10min stretching
Walked home - 1km approx.
All in all a great day. I'm bloody tired though, so I'm going to read blogs while I wait for my dinner to cook then its off to bed to read and then sleep... a lot!

Today… my legs are feeling the stairs that I did yesterday, little bit tight and sore, but good in that good hurt kind of way. I went down them again to get my coffee this morning!! I'm not going to be walking home from work, since I'm still carrying a residual cold that I want to kick, so I need to get my exercise in where I can. Food today thus far has been good:

Bfast: 1cup unsweetened almond breeze, 1 pkg oatmeal, 3/4c frozen raspberries
Snack: 1 med skim milk latte (+ 468 stairs), 1/2c apple&grain activia yogurt
Lunch: 1c Autumn harvest soup, 1c chickpea salad, 3 hearty rye crackers, 1 tin Jalapeno lime tuna (I only ate 2 small bites…very disappointed in the taste…damn it I bought 4 cans thinking that I would love it)
Snack 2: 1 Kashi 7grain bar, 1c Gerber apple&cinnamon stars
Snack 3: (potential banana), 1/2c 1% cottage cheese
I'm finished all my lunch, but I'm feeling….peckish, or snacky or something….I can't quite figure it out - but I'm not satisfied. Ug.
Ahh, I can see what it is. I'm not really getting filled up with the fibre today. Raspberries, were the only fruit/veg I had today until lunch. The soup - a good serving of carrot and squash - was in liquid form. I'm going to drink some more water and see if the beans don't start to make me feel fuller in 10min, I'll head down to the one little shop in our building that sells healthy foods and get a banana to have with my cottage cheese.
I don't have much planned for dinner, but I was reading Lyn at Escape from Obesity lots today and I think that the Butternut Mac&Cheese might just be what I need on a cold miserable day like today for my dinner. Is cheese clean eating?? I'm going to go with a yes on this one...its milk made cheesy...I'll get some good sharp Cheddar nothing crazy processed and some great wholewheat noodles that I love. I actually can not stand to eat white/regular noodles anymore - they taste so .... pasty.
Edit:: If you have not made this dish yet... DO IT! yum yum yum!

Weight In Monday, Dec 15, 2008
Well today was weight in (see last couple of posts!) I'm up. Not good.
Weight: 278.8lbs (+0.2lbs)
Inches:
Neck - 16.1, Bust - 48, Ribs - 43, waist - 48.5, Hips - 51.4, R Thigh - 27.5, L Thigh - 27.8, R Calf - 18.3, L Calf - 19, R Bicep - 14.9, L Bicep - 14.8
Total - 329.3
So, I guess calling this blog one inch at a time was pretty accurate. I'm not too unhappy as my inches have gone down, I think that I'm about to have a good breakthrough if I can just maintain my better habits and keep my activity level up right now. I've made a mental shift as well. That this is not going to be simple, so now when its hard I'm not as disappointed that I'm struggling. Managing expectations I suppose. :)
So there you have it! I'm having some rice chicken and curry sauce with peas and carrots tonight, as well as 4 mini pitas toasted with hummus. Its pretty great! I have some other obligations tonight though, so I have to run. I'm going to be on later to surf the other blogs and see what everyone else has been up to today and over the weekend.
EDIT::
Forgot to log my Monday stairs. Down 26 flighst, every 5 flights I went up 1/2 flight.
down 26 x 18 = 468
up 2.5 x 18 = 45
down 2.5 x 18 = 45
Total = 558

lazy weekend
Well..the weather outside is frightful. Very cold, snowy, blowing wind, and just plain ugly. I'm not loving it. I don't even want to go out there. So this weekend is going to be an inside affair. I've rented movies and I'm going to try and eat good food, drink mint tea and rest.
If I get cabin fever tomorrow I'll see if its nice enough to go out and get some walking in - if not, I'll throw on the Jillian Michael's 30day shred DVD and do some sweating in the living room.
I'm about to put sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts and chicken into the oven to slowly roast while I read a book.

EDIT:: Went for salmon not chicken. Its faster to thaw and faster to cook. Plus I hadn't had any fish in a while.

Change of Mind
I caught myself red handed deep in food lust today. Naughty!
First off, I haven't not eaten enough today, nor did I start the day with a good breakfast. That always seems to catch up to me in the afternoon and then bad things happen... such as....
Sitting at my desk, thinking that I would skip the gym and go home and order pizza ... yummy greasy greasy pizza....and since I was good and didn't drink a coke with my lunch - even though I thought about it, then that means that I could have one tonight....or maybe even 2, and rent a movie and get some ice cream....
The crazy food p0rn swirling around in my brain was about to get hold when I realized what I was doing to myself. I changed my thoughts to the veggies that are in my fridge and all the delicious things I can make with what is in the house already.
Tonight its roasted brussle spouts, baked sweet potato, chicken breast and a spinach salad. Most likely a sweet salad with almonds and mandarin orange segments again. Yum!
Its so much easier to control those thoughts when I have something else to focus them on. YAY for a step in the right direction today.

Stair MASTER!
I hobbled around the office like I was 100 years old today - but it did force me to drink more water (in the hope that it would help flush out the lactic acid in my poor legs). I have to say though, that I did enjoy the stairs, and today... I did it again.
18 steps between floors x 26 floors = 468 steps. I felt every one of them. So did my calves, my quads and my butt(s).
I did get to the gym, but I skipped my leg weights. I didn't know if I would be able to finish then AND walk home after. As it was I shuffled home at half pace - but I did it. Victory!
10min elliptical warm up
Lat pull downs - 70 x10, 2s 100 x 6r, 2s 90 x 6r
bicep curls - 17.5 x 10, 2s 20 x 6r, 2s 22.5 x 6r
military press - 5s 22.5 x 6r
chest press - 5s 22.5 x 6r
abs x ball work.
Tonight's dinner was veggie frittata. 1 egg, 1/3c egg whites, red onion, asparagus, spinach, deli chicken breast and feta cheese on top. One grilled whole wheat wrap and 1/2c hot salsa. It was tastier then it looks! :)
Dessert tonight is cashew/macadamia nutbutter with my Strawberry & Grand Marnier jam (yes...its as lush as it sounds) rolled in a wrap and a 1/4c cottage cheese.
Bed early tonight. I'm totally beat.

Asparagus - Nature's reminder that you are what you eat!
No cookies today! Happily the other office carbo-addicts ate them all before I could even get a good look at one to decide if I wanted to cheat or not! ha!
Work has been infiltrated by drama llamas and I'm hating it. Ug. But, I had a good day for eating, too much coffee and not enough water, but I'm getting there.
Post work.... I did the stairs (thanks Katschi!! I'm loving this challenge!)... 25 floors down. Needless to say, I was slightly damp when I exited out into the main floor. It was good though, and completed the night with a 7.2km (4.44m) walk. The evening was really nice and I had a great time. My legs were stiff this morning from weights yesterday, but after the excellent warm up, my walk was great.
I stopped for groceries on the way home and stocked up on fruit and veg as well as some more eggs/egg whites, and Swiss cheese.... I'm feeling an omelet phase coming on! :) And viola, we have what I had for dinner.
1 halved blanched green pepper, filled and then baked with 1 slice deli chicken breast, red onion, spinach 2 eggs and 1/4 cup egg whites and 3 oz feta cheese on top. Some asparagus spears and a couple of mini pitas (no evil butter). I ended up putting it in the nuker for a minute at the end to get the middle cooked - I was following a recipe from memory, so I think I got the oven settings wrong. I'm going to have to find it again and do it right.
That's all from me. I had a busy night, a friend dropped in for a late cuppa tea, the hubby is at quiz night and I did a little cleaning while cooking. Its not left a lot of time for me to check up on all of my blogroll....
But I am now!! i r on da netz, readin ur postz!

Fridays Effort
Today was a good day for exercise, I do have to note that I have been sleeping like a baby at night right now. I'm so bloody tired at the end of the day.
I had a few too many treats in the food department - 1/2 sweet skim mocha with whip and a biscotti at 10am, bad pub burger for lunch - but a salad with. However this is a slippery slope that I have to be careful on.
I managed to get in 7.25km of walking after work, I was surprised that I was out so long. Left the office and started walking at 4:45pm. Got home at 6:15ish. I also made sure there was a large hill to climb. The view of the city was great on top of it. I called the hubby to tell him what I wonderful time I was having.
I did stop on the way home and pick up some dinner and.....ice cream. Ug. And a new book to read this weekend. Its low fat soy ice cream (80cal for 1/2cup of it). Trying to decide if I want some or if I just desire some(...hum, no question I want some - but do I need any?) Honestly, after yesterday melt down I shouldn't have even gone near the ice cream aisle...but I ended up with the low fat in lieu of (300cal per 1/2cup) Ben&Jerry's that I was originally holding.
Dinner was purposefully very filling and yummy:
3/4 c Humus with 10 baby carrots, 1/2 green pepper, 5 large button mushrooms and 2 small whole wheat pitas.
Tomorrow I have to go into the office and do a bit of overtime, which is actually good. My gym is in the office building so I can kill 2 birds with one stone. I'll work first and then gym so I don't have to stay all day.
