I enjoyed my walk very much last night, however when I got home, I really didn't want to go.
I forced myself to get changed into my walking clothes.... sat around... put on my runners..... sat around....fiddled with this and that.... sat around....
Finally I just had to stand up and tell myself to stop stalling and get moving. It worked and in 10 minutes I was out in the night air enjoying the park with oh...about 300 other people out there making changes in their life for the better. All shapes sizes and speeds. Its a nice feeling and by the end of it - I really felt great physically for having gotten out and moved around.
I stopped at the Kroger on the way home and had a MAJOR NSV. Being alone in the grocery store at night after working out is a huge trigger for me to buy junk. In fact, going to get "a couple of things" at the grocery store is a bad one for me in general. If I'm doing a huge shop with a list I'm okay, but that quick nip in and out of the store has always been "Treat time for Tamzin". The hand is faster than the brain... and I would be leaving with a snickers bar or something else... M&M's etc. Always consumed in the vehicle, quickly, guiltily and then the remains hidden in the trash.
Last night, I thought about it... my old brain said - late night store visit = treat. I wrestled with myself a little and then said. No. I won't. I got in, got my stuff. Got out. I'm happier and stronger for it. This morning I weighed in... 284.8.
Onwards... and downwards!
Welcome
Thank you for stopping by to perv on my blog, as I fight myself to change my old habits and make new ones to get fit. I don't get it right all the time, but I'm still here and I'm still working at it.
Tamzins Double Dog Dare You Ticker!
My homage to the 14lbs that I lost on Allan’s DDDY Challenges. A watering can for the vast oceans of water that I have learned to drink and love every day.

Swass Chaff
Today was a running day, but due to Wednesdays sweaty ass chaff (Swass Chaff), from running inside on the treadmill, I decided to let my neither regions have a day in Lieu to recover.
Tomorrow morning I will do my Jan 1 run. :)
These last 2 days have been hectic. I don't feel like I've had much in the way of me time, or relaxation. We had some friends drop in unexpected for two days and we ended up giving them the full Houston tour for both yesterday and today.
Thursday we were out of the house from 12.30 until 2am with a very brief stop in to change cloths for our new years even party at around 10pm. We took them out to one of the major outlet mall places... damn I wish that I had worn my pedometer....since we were there for nearly three hours walking. My legs were dying!
Today we were up and gone at 11 this morning and finally back home tonight at 5.00pm. Phew!
The bad news is that having people to show around and being out all day means two things:
1. I did NOT drink enough water... not even close
2. we ate out WAY too much.
I am back to tracking my calories and yesterday was a crap shoot. I didn't do too badly, but I was some 600 calories over my daily allowance, not great. However, I did eat only when I was actually hungry and .....DRUM ROLL PLEASE.... left food on my plate when I was full!!!!!!!!!! Major Non Scale Victory there.
Anyway, I'm taking some time to myself right now. I'm boycotting the family dinner tonight since it is fatty, creamy, calorie laden with butter and smells horrible to me right now (crab au gratin and beef stroganoff) *barf*.
YAY BODY for knowing that what I want and need is water and a quiet place to read and relax.... me thinks its time for a hot bath.

Small Victory worth posting
Today after another 4 day weekend away from the office (we were closed Friday and holiday monday)...I attempted to drink my "usual" office machine mochalatte.....AND....
It was too sweet!
:) back to regular joe with cream instead of this chocolate syrup abomination!
Hurray for the small things in life.
Last night I had the crazy cravings and I was out and driving (which is a BAD combo).
I was going to stop and get a coffee and timbits* (10...or 20 of them lets face it - I would have bought 2 coffees and 20 timbits to make it look like I was buying for 2 people and then eaten them all). I decided that I would go to Wendy's instead and got a baked potato with chili and a SMALL frosty. Much better and I didn't even finish the chili.
I know that since I'd already eaten dinner that this is really not like going home and eating cottage cheese and a handful of nuts or ....any of those other good foods that are sitting in the fridge, but in terms of managing binge/compulsive food behaviors...I'm going to move this into a small win as well.
more small steps. I can't imagine what I would have felt like this morning if I'd had a large coffee with cream and 20 timbits last night at 9pm. So this is much better.
I'm most of the way through my first of three liters of water today. Must keep drinking.
*timbits are donut holes to my American friends.

Wednesday Goals
Today is treat day at the office. I have a lunch in the freezer here, some fruit and veggie snacks, but I forgot to bring my yogurt and cottage cheese. I do have enough food to get me through the day... there is NO NEED for me to have any treats.
There. I said it so that I would know that it is true.
I will NOT have any treats from the office kitchen today.
also...NSV... today the pants that I could "almost" do up.... did up! YAY!!!!!
Edit:: cookie day was survived and I didn't cave. I was ably assisted by the office co-op students. It was like a great white feeding frenzy in there until the cookies were gone! HURRAY!
Not been home yet... we shall see if the Internet is up and working again. If not, I suspect a long time on the phone listening to jazz music.

An ode to cravings
A Haiku....because I can! so there!
Ahh, a bit of Friday night fun.... yeeehaaw! Actually today turned out a lot better food wise then I thought that it might. All afternoon I was lusting after more chocolate flavored coffee and whip cream... I didn't get one. YES!! I went and ate a yogurt.
However, I've not been eating enough fruits and veggies. I've been eating the kashi granola bars etc... which I realize are not "bad" for you, but its not like eating an orange is it. NO.... Tamzin... its NOT.
This weekend I have lots of activities planned, tomorrow I'm going to try and get in a 7.5km walk. If I'm feeling brave AND wearing a supportive (we are talking about buttresses here) sports bra, then I might considered trying to do a run 5 walk 10 kind of arrangement. We shall see!
Non-scale victory.... which I'm sure some of you will relate to. I put on a pair of stretchy yoga type pants after work and they fit better (by better I mean not cutting off the circulation from my upper half to the lower half!). They were an XL from Costco. So at maximum stretch, yet comfy that's about a 1XL I think. And had significantly less (( TMI ALERT )) camel toe then I've had in the resent past.
yep...I'm thinking there is a great place to finish this post. That was a treat from me to the people that read all the way through! teehee!
Sugar, you devil
you torment me with the sweet.
I hate you so much!
